Lara Snoj

Visiting student
ASEF Junior Fellow

Lara joined us as a visiting student, an American-Slovenian Educational Foundation (ASEF) Junior Fellow immediately after defending her master’s thesis (Congratulations, Lara!) in July 2023. Lara spent 10 weeks in our laboratory researching how MAGEA proteins enable cancer cells to endure nutrient stress and grow better.

Lara is originally from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Lara graduated from Laboratory Biomedicine at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana. The goal of her master’s thesis was to establish a reliable diagnostic method for the detection of variants in the PKD1 gene, responsible for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, a devastating inherited disorder in which clusters of cysts develop in the kidneys.

Lara is a proud owner of 2 dogs and misses them already. In her free time, she likes to play volleyball, go hiking in nature, dance, or just hang out with friends.
